Kent Center School kindergartners enjoyed a visit to the Morrison Gallery to learn about the art of Hans Hofmann and George McNeil.  Barbara Egenes and
Al Coffill accompanied the classes to view several interesting paintings and spoke to the children about the shapes and colors that the artists used, and about the way they painted.  They discussed abstract expressionism, and explained that abstract means something that doesn’t look real.  The children really enjoyed their visits and were well-behaved.

The following week in art class, the kindergartners painted pictures of faces in the spirit of Faith Ringold and under the guidance of Mrs. Egenes and Mr. Coffill.

We all enjoyed this special art project!

Thank you to Mrs. Egenes, Mr. Coffill, and ArtsAlive!

The finished product!
