COMPUTERS
Kent Center School enthusiastically supports a multi-platform technology environment using both the Macintosh and PC operating systems that are networked throughout the school. The Computer Room is equipped with Macintosh computers and printers including the new iMac. A wide variety of educational software programs and CD-ROM disks including word processing, desktop publishing, computer graphics and multimedia presentations are housed in the Computer Room for both Macintosh and PC users. A color laser printer is networked for use in the Computer Room and accessible from all classrooms. In addition, Macintosh and PC color scanners and digital cameras are also available for students or teachers.

A school-wide multi-platform network running Windows NT provides Internet access to the Computer Room, classrooms, Library Media Center, and offices. Computers in the Computer Room have Internet access. Classrooms and offices throughout the school are equipped with one or more Macintosh or PC computers with Internet access. All teachers have personal electronic mail (e-mail) accounts.

Participating in the Microsoft/Toshiba Anytime Anywhere Learning program since 1996, KCS is one of 31 pioneer schools nationwide to use laptop computers with students. All KCS 7th and 8th grade students and teachers use Toshiba laptops in their classrooms and at home to integrate technology into the curriculum.
